Pronouncing Pravic

Tvo-Pravic has 43 sound units, consisting of six vowels and 37 consonants. A Pravic word is either a consonant-vowel-consonant single syllable, or vowel-consonant pairs can be added to make multisyllabic forms. Words can also end in a final vowel, which is a grammatical marker of word type and verb tense (see Basic Word Grammar in Pravic for more on word formation).

The vowels have one sound each, although five of them have a different sound when they occur at the end of a word. One vowel sound can be pronounced in two ways reflecting different dialects. The vowel sounds are:

The double consonants should be pronounced with a short unvoiced gap without changing mouth position (red dog, not redder; big gap, not bigger; and so on).

The consonant cluster at the beginning of the root in a word is indicated by capital letters. The first root syllable is always the stressed syllable of a tvo-Pravic word.
